What are the solutions to the economic and social consequences of Covid-19 in Africa?
The spread of the virus, the global economic crisis, border closures and containment measures are having a major impact on the African continent. Although it remains the continent least affected by Covid-19 to date, the pandemic's negative impact on the economic and social fabric is already strong, and is limiting the capacities of already fragile states.
In order to prevent the most exposed African economies from falling back, public policies tailored to each context need to be encouraged: emergency social aid, support for businesses or sectoral measures. With this in mind, development players such as Expertise France are mobilized to provide technical support to countries to improve the management, execution and accountability of national funds and international financial aid.
To what extent is economic and social support essential in the face of this health crisis? How can international cooperation support its partners to meet the economic and social challenges?
