Culture, a lever for development and stability?

As a manifestation of collective memory and identity, an expression of the vitality of societies and a generator of exchanges, culture is a vector of social cohesion. In all its manifestations - from museums to monuments and places of remembrance, cultural and creative industries, the arts and performing arts - it helps to strengthen the bonds between individuals. Beyond its social function, it also contributes to economic development through job creation, and to the attractiveness of territories in countries committed to cultural enhancement through the promotion of tourism. Not always considered a priority, this sector has considerable potential in developing countries.

Faced with the economic, health, humanitarian and environmental crises facing certain countries, does the promotion of heritage and the cultural and creative industries still have a role to play in responding to them? How can culture help to revive local societies and economies?
