Laurence Tubiana
Laurence Tubiana is President and Executive Director of the European Climate Foundation (ECF). She is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the French Development Agency (AFD) and a professor at Sciences Po Paris. Prior to joining the ECF, Laurence Tubiana was Ambassador for Climate Change Negotiations and Special Representative for COP 21, and thus one of the main architects of the Paris Agreement. Following COP 21, she was appointed High-Level Climate Champion.
Laurence Tubiana has many years' experience and expertise in the fields of climate change, energy, agriculture and sustainable development, working successively for governments, institutions, think tanks and NGOs. From 1997 to 2002, she was Senior Advisor for the Environment to Prime Minister Lionel Jospin. Between 2009 and 2010, she created and headed the Global Public Goods Directorate at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE). In 2013, she chaired the Conseil national du débat sur la transition énergétique. In 2002, she founded the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI), which she headed until 2014. In the late 80s and early 90s, she founded and then headed Solagral, an NGO specializing in food safety and environmental protection. She began her career as a research director for the French National Institute for Agronomic Research (INRA).
Laurence Tubiana has also held a number of academic and university posts, notably at Sciences Po and as Professor of International Relations at Columbia University in New York. She is a member of numerous boards and scientific committees, including the China Committee for Environment and International Development (CCICED).
