Informality, digitalisation, job insecurity\u2026 Promoting decent work\u2014that is, productive work that provides a fair income, rights and social protection, and supports sustainable economic growth\u2014is now a global challenge. It continues to face dynamics common to all countries: the fragmentation of value chains, the rise of precarious employment, the growth of digital platforms, the increased vulnerability of young people, women and migrant workers, and unequal institutional capacities to enforce labour rights.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"#RDVExpertise Teaser \u00e9mission &quot;Travail d\u00e9cent&quot; au Mexique 28 mai 2026\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yuowdbXrHdw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Informality at the Heart of Socioeconomic Challenges: The Case of Mexico<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mexico, like many Latin American countries, is at the center of these tensions. According to data from INEGI, more than one in two workers in the country is employed in the informal sector. Informal employment particularly affects women, young people, the elderly, and migrant populations, and leads to greater job insecurity for workers, a decline in the country\u2019s productivity, increased competition, inequalities in income distribution, and so on.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These issues closely mirror those observed in other parts of the world, particularly in Africa and Europe, where economic, demographic, and digital transitions present similar challenges.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Major international events: challenges and opportunities for global cooperation<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The organisation of major international events, such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup (Mexico, United States, Canada), serves to highlight these dynamics on the global stage. It places strain on already fragile sectors \u2013 construction, services, security, tourism \u2013 and exposes the limitations of existing regulatory frameworks.
