Today, nearly 55% of the world’s population lives in urban areas. This proportion is expected to reach between 70 and 80% by 2050. Sustainable cities are a genuine political project that must guide urban development policies and access to services and infrastructure in health, education, transport, etc. Bringing together a plurality of stakeholders, cities are a crucial place to mobilize future generations and implement actions that will enable cities to become carbon neutral.
The concept of a sustainable city is based on several issues, including the importance of promoting built and natural heritage (heritage protection and rehabilitation, responsible tourism and economy, development of structuring public facilities), of developing access to culture for local populations, but also of capitalizing on the history of each territory.
