This proportion is expected to rise to between 70 and 80% by 2050. Sustainable cities are a genuine political project that must guide policies on urban development and access to services and infrastructures in the fields of health, education, transport and so on. Bringing together a wide range of players, cities are a decisive place for mobilizing future generations and implementing actions that will enable cities to become carbon-neutral.
The concept of a sustainable city is based on several issues, including the importance of promoting built and natural heritage (heritage protection and rehabilitation, responsible tourism and economy, development of structuring public facilities), of developing access to culture for local populations, but also of capitalizing on the history of each territory.
