François Dabis is a doctor of medicine and professor of epidemiology at the School of Public Health (ISPED) of the University of Bordeaux. He has been the director of the National Agency for Research on HIV/AIDS and Viral Hepatitis (ANRS) since March 2017.
Dr. Dabis has over 30 years of experience in research on HIV epidemiology and prevention and global health. His scientific interests focus on these public health challenges, both in prevention and care approaches: prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, cohorts of adults and children on antiretroviral treatment in France and Africa, and operational research on epidemic control.
François Dabis led a research team in epidemiology and global health at the Inserm Centre in Bordeaux from 2001 to 2015.
He was President of Coordinated Action No. 12 of the ANRS from 2003 to 2015, in charge of the Agency’s scientific program in countries with limited resources.
From 2003 to 2012, he was President of the Scientific Council of the National Institute for Public Health Surveillance (INVS).
To date, he has published 745 articles in international journals (Source: PubMed/Medline) and numerous book chapters; his H index is 72 (Source: Web of Science). François Dabis coordinated the publication of two editions of a French-language reference work on field epidemiology in 2012 and 2017.
