Bakary Sembe

 

Bakary Sambe holds a doctorate in political science from the IEP in Lyon, with a thesis on Arab-African relations, and a master's degree in languages and civilization. He is currently a teacher-researcher at the Center for the Study of Religions at Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis, director of the Timbuktu Institute and coordinator of the Observatory of Radicalisms and Religious Conflicts in Africa. An international expert with the United Nations, he has notably designed and led advocacy for the establishment of the G5 Sahel regional cell for preventing and combating radicalization, accompanied the process of drawing up national strategies in Niger, Burkina Faso and the Central African Republic, and produced the first manual of best practices for resilience in the face of extremism and threats with the United Nations Office for Counter-Terrorism. Bakary Sambe has published several works: " Islam and diplomacy, Morocco's African policy" , (2010-11), " Boko Haram, from Nigerian problem to regional threat" (2015), " Senegal between diplomacy of influence and political Islam " (2018).
